Lately I’ve been listening to lots of musical duos, like the
playful stylings of Pomplamoose. Pomplamoose
is the result of the melodic mix of the couple (yes, they’re dating!) Nataly
and Jack and their influences range from people like Thom Yorke and Radiohead
all the way to quirky singer-songwriters like Regina Spektor. I especially love
their covers; they cover all sorts of groups, including Aerosmith, Feist,
Beyonce and even Lady Gaga! They produce all of their music by themselves and
debut it in on YouTube in the form of video songs.
The song Gatekeeper is about the seasons of falling in love. Pomplamoose’s cover is a little daintier and lighter than Feist’s version, and along with the song, I tried to capture the playful essence of the first few months in a new relationship in this whimsical outfit. It also could stretch through all of the seasons with the right accessories, so your metaphorical love doesn’t have to freeze in the winter! This outfit is all about not taking yourself too seriously and enjoying the beauty in everyday things, like a simple stencil on a yellow purse or the ruffles on a pair of socks. This outfit and song should inspire you to go back to your roots and fall back in love with that special someone and bring out your inner child in lighthearted wardrobe choices like delicate flower prints.
